It was a nice hot summer evening in Menlo Park and it was even a hotter night of fun, demos, and networking at the August Capital Techcrunch party of 2008. There were plenty of familiar faces at the event that included the hot web celebrities Julia Allison and Meghan Asha. I also met Randi Zuckerberg for the first time and she was really nice and sweet.
Even more known, were real celebrities, and surprisingly Grammy aware winning rapper Chamillionaire was in the house! I am pretty sure there were plenty of people at the event who had no idea who he was but Chamillionaire still participated in some very interesting and technical conversations with the internet geeks. Chamillionaire deserves much props for being "white and nerdy" in learning more about the web 2.0 industry. The other big celebrity that was in the building was none other than Dancejam's MC Hammer. Some of the other notables out of the 1,100 in attendance included Yahoo's Sarah Lacy, Robert Scoble, Scott Beale, and of course Michael Arrington. The event also featured product demos from 20 tech companies including a photo setup by Kaboodle and some of the sponsors included Loopt, Tokbox, Mixx, Plista, Etchstar, Pandora, and more.
The afterparty hosted by Duck9's Larry Chiang took place at the Palo Alto Four Seasons Hotel Poolside which included some more networking, hot tubbing and even swimming to conclude the night.
