Here is the video demo of the Drobo 2nd Generation Storage Robot presented by Cali Lewis. If you are not familiar with what the Drobo is, it is a storage solution similar to a NAS Server. The advantages of this unit is that it uses BeyondRaid technology which basically takes all the advantages of RAID technology while leaving out all the negatives of RAID technology. The Drobo has a capacity of up to 4 SATA drives that can be swapped and upgraded at anytime. The drives can also be different sizes, which is not possible with a normal RAID configuration. If one drive dies, no data is lost as the unit behaves similar to a RAID 5 array of distributing your data among the drives. Once you replace the drive or add more drives, it will automatically implement the new drives and increase the disk size of the volume of your storage. The first generation came out about a year ago and this 2nd generation was just released.

Del.icio.us is the popular bookmarking website that Yahoo acquired in 2005. Even though Del.icio.us isn't a new startup, I really like the demo created by Common Craft and feel that it is a really good presentation of the product. It is a good example of a good product demo and that why I made this the first entry for my website. The Del.icio.us product itself can be very useful as it allows users to save their bookmarks online so that they can access it anywhere they have internet access. The tagging ability is what makes the tool even more useful as it can allow not only the user to search through the bookmarks but allows anyone in general to be able to go through and access those bookmarks using specific tags.
